Have you ever wondered why some people or so successful and others can’t quite reach their goals? Or why some people have so much motivation and will power and others can’t find the spark to get them going? I truly believe it comes down to getting really clear about what you want, understanding why you want it, and living in alignment with it. This week you will get to hear a true story about me and I will help you get clear on your intentions and what you need to do to get in alignment with them. True Story About Me
For the first 24 years of my life I was a Yo-Yo dieter. I felt awful! I was bloated, depressed, and hated the way I looked! I constantly thought things like “If I eat carbs or sweets I am going to gain weight”, “I am so fat”, and “It’s so hard for me to lose weight”. And guess what…I believed each of those thoughts and so did my body. When I ate carbs my stomach would start to hurt and I would quickly bloat up and gain weight. I exercise 2 hours a day and ate extremely clean but I still couldn't seem to lose weight. What was going on? My thoughts and feelings were not in alignment with my intention (goal). I wanted to lose weight but I was beating myself up with my thoughts and I didn't feel worthy of really losing weight. One day, I was walking with a friend and she asked me, "why is it so hard for you to lose weight?" The question hit me like a ton of bricks, but it really made me start to think. That day I started exploring my thoughts and the way I viewed myself and an amazing thing happened…I started to lose weight. To achieve total health our intentions, thoughts, feelings, and actions must all be in alignment. If you want something but don't think it is possible for you to achieve it, more than likely you wont be able to achieve it. Below is a step by step process to help you align with your intentions. Step by step process to aligning with your intentions (goals): 1. Get grounded! Use the tools that you learned last week and take a few minutes to get grounded and centered. If you didn't get a chance to read last weeks blog click here. 2. Get clear on what you want! Once you feel centered think about what would like to change or work on over the next few weeks? (your health, career path, finances, a relationship, etc) 3. What is your why? Make a list of the why behind your intentions. Why is it important to you? Why would you like to achieve it?It is a very important step! If you are doing something for someone else or for the wrong reasons it will be very difficult to achieve what you want. 4. Imagine how it would feel to achieve your goal. For example: if you want to lose weight...what will like to be at your desired weight? How will you feel? Notice where your thoughts are and how your body feels when your start to imagine reaching your goal. Does your heart start to warm up? Do you feel more open? Do you feel scared? or Does your body start to close off? 5. Make a list of the action steps What can you do now that you can take now to get you moving towards your goal. 6. Who can you call for help!? If you have been going it alone and it is not working you may need to ask for help. Is there anyone that you know who can help you? Or maybe there is someone you need to reach out to for help or support (a counselor, coach, etc) ? Walt Disney once said, “ If you dream it, you can do it”. So once you have gotten clear on your intentions, why they are important to you, and what you need to do to achieve them... close your eyes, take a few deep breathes, and create a movie in your mind of what it would feel like to achieve your deepest desires. You can this for at least 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes before bed and before as part of your grounding exercise and it will help you to live in alignment with your intentions! Action Steps for this week: 1. Set your intentions 2. Get clear on your why 3. Take 5 minutes a day to create a movie in your mind of what it will feel like to reach your goal! 4. Ask for help when you need If you feel inspired share your experience on the blog! Remember you are never alone and we can all learn from each other :0) Much Love! Lynsey
