Are you feeling the summer’s heat? The past few weeks I feel like I have been sitting on a hot box! I’m not talking temperature hot here; I am talking thoughts, emotions, and the physical body. Things feel like they are moving so quickly, but at the same time they feel like they aren’t moving at all. Can you think of a time when you felt like you were working really hard at something and you felt like you weren’t getting results fast enough? (I will also share a personal story about me).
I don’t usually tell people this or talk about myself in this way…but today I feel guided to share this with you. I have always been somewhat of a perfectionist. I have a gift for seeing potential in people and in myself, a strong intuition, and a strong sense of knowing. Sometimes, when I know something is supposed to happen I get so excited that I start to push things and trying to speed up the process. In the past I did this with my weight and health...But lately, I have been feeling that way with my business. I have such a huge vision of what I want to create and it seems like I can’t pull it together fast enough.
Can you think of a time when you wanted to speed things up? Are when you wanted to change things or push things forward (like yesterday haha)?
When, we put expectations on things (for example: the amount of weight, a time frame, how it is supposed to look, who it’s supposed to be with) this creates a stress in the body. It doesn’t matter if the expectations are directly for ourselves or if they are for our business, job, partner, or children. Things start to tighten up in the shoulders, back, stomach, and pelvic area. I was reminded of that this week.
Over the weekend I started feeling knot in my solar plex (upper belly) and bloating in my lower belly. My mind started to turn, what did I eat? What can I take? Is there an emotion that I am not processing? Finally, I said OK Lynsey that is enough and I got my journal out, got quiet, and let the pen speak! The message that I got was “get quiet, take a step back, trust, and allow things to flow”. So the past few days I have been doing just that. As I get quiet I am reminded to listen to my body and be gentle with myself. As I release the control, expectations, and the force, I am noticing that the tension is loosening up.
It is common to get so focused on what we WANT (to lose weight, a better job, a relationship, more money, etc) that we forget to have fun and enjoy the journey of getting there. When we get into the joy energy things start to flow better in our body: our muscles relax, blood starts to flow, we digest our food better, and our creative juices start to flow. And we are able to attract/ manifest more of what we really want!
Sometimes, it is hard to do this alone and it requires us to build up the courage to ask for help. Asking for help and allowing others to help you (whether it is a friend, family member, or professional) gives you the opportunity to take the pressure off of your self, get a CLEARER, FRESH perspective on the situation, and to get support. THIS IS HUGE! Often it is the missing part of the equation! A little love, support, and guidance can go along way! Sometimes having someone else believe in you is just the boost you need to be able to believe in yourself!
1. So my challenge for myself and also for you this week is to do something fun. You can start by asking yourself what sounds like fun and go from there.
2. Practice being vulnerable enough to ask for help! Where in your life can you ask for help and support? And who can you ask?
