Have you ever felt like you wanted something so bad but you just
couldn’t seem to find the motivation to get started?
Do you ever find yourself depressed or unmotivated because you
feel you have “fell off” your diet or exercise routine?
Do you ever find yourself sitting around watching time go by because you have no energy to do the things you love or really want to do?
As they often say, "the hardest part is getting started". I also think the hardest part is breaking self defeating habits. I remember when I struggled with my weight and eating. I felt like the only thing I wanted was a way out, to feel better, to find motivation. But at the same time that seemed like the hardest and most impossible thing to get.
In this blog I will talk about some simple exercises that can help you get unstuck and motivated!
Let’s take a stroll through the world of energy for a second. Everything is made of energy. Some types of energy are light and uplifting others can be heavy, stagnant, and actually "weigh" us down.
Let’s play a game…It's called imagine what it feels like!
I want you to think of being outside…the wind blowing gently against your skin, your hair the birds singing, and you smelling the fresh air. How does that make you feel?
Now, I want you to think of being at work and needing to go home to cook dinner, also clean because the house is a mess, and bring the kids to the soccer game because it's soccer night. How does this make you feel? Do you think you would be likely to find time to exercise, eat healthy, or distress? Just as I was righting this I felt anxious and I felt my shoulders start to get tight!
As you may have felt from the exercise our environment, thoughts, and the energy we surround ourselves with directly impacts the way we feel and the way we act! When you are feeling stuck or unmotivated taking a look at your environment can do wonders for the way you feel and think. If you notice things are getting cluttered (the clothes, the dishes, the cabinets) clearing things our can help to shift the “heavy” energy. You may even notice you get a little inspiration. Below are a few of my favorite ways to shift feelings of being "stuck", depressed, overwhelmed, or unmotivated.
1. Sit outside
Being in nature allows you to connect back to your roots and back to the source. You may want to try walking around bare foot or planting some flowers, herbs, or vegetables!
2. Go for a walk or exercising
The movement of your body helps to move stagnant feelings that you may be feeling. Exercise is extra beneficial to O blood types. I have personally watched people change into a different person after a 20 minute short walk.
3. Take a shower
Water helps to cleanse energy, you can think of jumping into a cool pool – it frees your mind :0)
4. Essential oils or Bach flowers (LOVE THEM BOTH)
Each essential oil and Bach flower has a unique healing property. In my experience they help people to let go of blocks (mental, emotional, physical) that no longer serve them so they can move forward.
5. Set your goals and Make a to do list
Make a list of the things that you want to achieve. Having clear goals is very important and powerful. If you don't know where you are going it will be hard to get there. Once you have your goals written down take some time to examine the other areas of your like (work, your home, your relationship, chores, your car, etc) and any areas that you have been neglecting or avoiding doing. Write them down and make a to do list! Motivation comes from action! Taking action and starting the things that you have been avoiding can free up some of your energy and help you to feel lighter and more motivated to achieve the goals you have really close to your heart!
